Until you feel something in your heart, you don't really believe it, and it doesn't direct your life.
Your heart is your home, and you should feel comfortable there. It should feel good to be at home with yourself. If you don't feel good inside, you need to make some changes in the way you think so that you can change the way you feel.
Your heart is like a calculator that sums up everything in your life. After it adds everything up, it tells you how to feel. When you feel bad, you need to change what you put into your mind so that things add up differently. When you count your blessings, and fill your mind with good things, your heart adds everything up, and you feel great. You must put good things into your mind if you want to feel good on the inside. There is no other way.
Although you can’t change your emotions directly, you can change them indirectly by changing how you think. Your emotions are the direct result of your thoughts, and when you change the way you think, your emotions change as well.
The Bible says, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Personal transformation starts in your head and works its way down to your heart. Your new way of thinking transforms your heart and changes the way you feel.
ELIMINATING THE NEGATIVE DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY MAKE YOU POSITIVE

Do you choose depression or does depression choose you? I have never met a person who chose to be depressed. The general feeling out there is that depression just happens. I strongly disagree with that statement. Although people don't consciously choose to become depressed, they do make choices that pave the royal road to depression. The choices you make about what you put into your mind, the chemicals you use, the things you watch in the media, the conversations you have, and what you say to yourself all have a massive impact on whether you have a positive or negative mind.
There’s a lot of push and shove going on in your mind, and you’re the one who’s getting pushed around. Too often, your inner voice beats you up and forces you into a corner. And after it knocks you down, it doesn’t stop the assault. It just keeps pummeling you with more negative and depressing thoughts. If you are going to break the back of negative thinking, you must do some pushing and shoving of your own. I can't say that I have ever been depressed. There have been plenty of times that I have been down and discouraged, but I have never lost command and control or believed the negative thoughts that occasionally blow through my mind. But when I get down, I know the cure. All I have to do is climb into my Land Rover, and suddenly I feel great. Once I get behind the wheel of my Defender, I am instantly transported to a positive destination, and I know that life is good.
For most people, negative thinking is simply a sign of fatigue. Fatigue is normal; it isn't a pathological state, and it's a mistake to regard it as such. Fatigue makes cowards of everyone. When you are tired, your problems appear insurmountable. Although the horizon of life was clear only a few hours earlier, now mountains of difficulty suddenly loom into view. Your fears are now overwhelming. All of the hobgoblins of your subconscious mind dance merrily in front of your eyes.
You don't have to let the voice of depression control your inner dialogue. You can use positive self-talk to change the conversation.
